THE MASKS WE WEAR.....

In our next 8th grade unit, we are going to be exploring Commedia dell'arte and the concept of stock characters and masks.  Our MYP Unit 2 question is "How many masks do I wear?  What do they look like?"

One of my lovely DP 12 students, Rushmila Rahman, shared this short with me and it serendipitously aligned with our new unit.  It's a short film called "IDENTITY."  Have a think about the what masks you may wear in your own life...at home...at school...with different friend groups...in new or uncomfortable situations.....

....and what it might take for you to remove them...if you chose to.  Are there individuals who are capable of walking through life "without a mask?"

Another way to organize your artistic brain.....Pinterest!  As you've seen in your art classes, this is a powerful visual organization tool and "idea logger."  In the design world, Pinterest is what old school designers would call an "electronic morgue"...where your ideas and inspiration are "dead" until you resurrect them with your own creative insight and flair!
